Foxygen is a Psychedelic rock act. Their sound grew out of Benjamin Goldwasser, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Todd Rundgren. Those roots explain a lot about how Foxygen arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Temples, Ariel Pink, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Deerhunter and Mini Mansions, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Beach Fossils, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 15 connections around Foxygen, reaching back through Benjamin Goldwasser and forward to Beach Fossils. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
