◇ image via WikipediaInner City
Inner City is a Techno act. Their sound grew out of Full Intention, Octave One, Monie Love, Juan Atkins and Derrick May. Those roots explain a lot about how Inner City arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Black Box, Ce Ce Peniston, Junior Jack, Adamski and Armand van Helden, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Leftfield, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 25 connections around Inner City, reaching back through Full Intention and forward to Leftfield.
