Gospel

Maverick City Music is a Gospel act. Their sound grew out of NEEDTOBREATHE and Elevation Worship. Those roots explain a lot about how Maverick City Music arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hillsong Young & Free, Terrian, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Victor Thompson and Israel & New Breed, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Elevation Worship and Kirk Franklin, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 15 connections around Maverick City Music, reaching back through NEEDTOBREATHE and forward to Elevation Worship. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
