Nikki Lane is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Neko Case, Wanda Jackson and Buddy Miller. They run in the same orbit as American Aquarium, Justin Townes Earle, Sierra Ferrell, The Deslondes and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Wheeler Walker Jr., Lana Del Rey and Dropkick Murphys, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation.
