Rocco Prestia is a Funk act. Their sound grew out of James Jamerson and Bootsy Collins. Those roots explain a lot about how Rocco Prestia arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as 6ix Toys, Phat Phunktion, Papa Grows Funk, Hiram Bullock and James Jamerson, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Jaco Pastorius, Pino Palladino and Jeff Berlin, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 15 connections around Rocco Prestia, reaching back through James Jamerson and forward to Jaco Pastorius.
