Severina is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Goran Bregović, Boris Novković, Dino Dvornik, Bijelo Dugme and Azis. Those roots explain a lot about how Severina arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Nina Badrić, Tony Cetinski, Parni Valjak, Zdravko Čolić and Prljavo Kazalište, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Jala Brat, Azis, Crvena Jabuka, Goran Bregović and Boris Novković, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 20 connections around Severina, reaching back through Goran Bregović and forward to Jala Brat. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
