Shantel is a Electropop act. Their sound grew out of Taraf de Haïdouks. Those roots explain a lot about how Shantel arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Goran Bregović, Balkan Beat Box, Watcha Clan, Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra and Taraf de Haïdouks, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Locomondo, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 9 connections around Shantel, reaching back through Taraf de Haïdouks and forward to Locomondo. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
