Soul Khan

Soul Khan is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of John Coltrane, Pharoahe Monch, Paul Robeson and David Ruffin. Those roots explain a lot about how Soul Khan arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Richie Cunning, Sandpeople, Knowmads, Kooley High and Collective Efforts, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Black Violin, El Da Sensei and Nitty Scott, MC, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 14 connections around Soul Khan, reaching back through John Coltrane and forward to Black Violin. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
