Ty Segall

Ty Segall is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Hawkwind, David Bowie, Marc Bolan, Black Sabbath and Kiss. Those roots explain a lot about how Ty Segall arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Black Lips, Jay Reatard, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Parquet Courts and White Denim, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Twin Peaks, Hinds, Osees, Paws and The Symposium, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 34 connections around Ty Segall, reaching back through Hawkwind and forward to Twin Peaks. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
