William Walton

William Walton is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Ernest Ansermet, Arnold Schoenberg, Benjamin Britten and Julian Bream. Those roots explain a lot about how William Walton arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Benjamin Britten, Anton Bruckner, Leoš Janáček, Alexander Glazunov and Igor Stravinsky, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Michael Laucke, Ron Goodwin and Janet Baker, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 26 connections around William Walton, reaching back through Ernest Ansermet and forward to Michael Laucke.
