Yanka Dyagileva is a Psychedelic rock act. Their sound grew out of Yegor Letov. Those roots explain a lot about how Yanka Dyagileva arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Egor i Opizdenevshie, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Zemfira, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 3 connections around Yanka Dyagileva, reaching back through Yegor Letov and forward to Zemfira. Background
Yana Stanislavovna "Yanka" Dyagileva was a Russian poet and singer-songwriter, and one of the most popular figures of her time in the Siberian underground music scene. She both played solo and performed with others, including Yegor Letov and bands Grazhdanskaya Oborona and Velikie Oktyabri. Yanka was greatly influenced by her friends Letov and Alexander Bashlachev. Her songs explored themes of desperation and depression, punk-style nihilism, and folk-like lamentations. Her death in 1991 has been considered as a symbolic end to the Siberian punk scene.
