Reggae

Amparanoia is a Reggae act. Their sound grew out of Manu Chao, Billie Holiday and Che Sudaka. Those roots explain a lot about how Amparanoia arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Panteón Rococó, Macaco, Cesária Évora, La Pegatina and Bebe, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Locomondo, Enrique Bunbury and Calexico, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 26 connections around Amparanoia, reaching back through Manu Chao and forward to Locomondo. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
