Indie rock

Babyshambles is a Indie rock act. Their sound grew out of Stephen Street, Mystery Jets, Jerry Dammers, The Libertines and The Clash. Those roots explain a lot about how Babyshambles arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Dirty Pretty Things, Hard-Fi, The Courteeners, Kasabian and The Futureheads, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Costello Music, Paul Epworth, Dirty Pretty Things, We Are Scientists and The Kooks, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 33 connections around Babyshambles, reaching back through Stephen Street and forward to Costello Music. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
