Coven is a Psychedelic rock act. Their sound grew out of Vanilla Fudge. Those roots explain a lot about how Coven arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Devil's Blood, Purson, Bang, Roky Erickson and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into King Diamond, Black Sabbath, The Devil's Blood, Ronnie James Dio and Witchcraft, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 18 connections around Coven, reaching back through Vanilla Fudge and forward to King Diamond. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
