Del Reeves is a Country act. Their sound grew out of Liz Anderson. Those roots explain a lot about how Del Reeves arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Dave Dudley, Junior Brown, Bobby Bare, Johnny Paycheck and Buck Owens, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Billie Jo Spears, Lee Greenwood, Bobby Goldsboro and Billy Ray Cyrus, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 17 connections around Del Reeves, reaching back through Liz Anderson and forward to Billie Jo Spears. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
Background
Franklin Delano Reeves was an American country music singer, best known for his "girl-watching" novelty songs of the 1960s including "Girl on the Billboard" and "The Belles of Southern Bell". He is also known for his 1968 trucker's anthem, "Looking at the World Through a Windshield", which demonstrated he was capable of more than just novelty songs. He became one of the most successful male country singers of the 1960s, becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1966 and remaining a regular performer for 40 years, until his death.
