Della Reese is a Gospel and Jazz act. Their catalogue also touches Rhythm and blues. Their sound grew out of Gene McDaniels, If I Can Dream, Goody Goody, Eugene McDaniels and Ethel Waters. Those roots explain a lot about how Della Reese arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Patti Page, Peggy Lee, Eartha Kitt, Shirley Bassey and Liza Minnelli, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Martha Reeves & The Vandellas and Martha Reeves, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 31 connections around Della Reese, reaching back through Gene McDaniels and forward to Martha Reeves & The Vandellas.
