Dutty Rock is a Dancehall act. Their sound grew out of Shabba Ranks. Those roots explain a lot about how Dutty Rock arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as DeeWunn and Shaneil Muir, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Beyoncé, Shenseea and Skillibeng, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 6 connections around Dutty Rock, reaching back through Shabba Ranks and forward to Beyoncé. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
