Francisco Canaro is a Tango act. Their sound grew out of La cumparsita and Vicente Greco. Those roots explain a lot about how Francisco Canaro arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Rodolfo Biagi, Osvaldo Fresedo, Edgardo Donato, Carlos di Sarli and Florindo Sassone, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Domingo Federico, Atilio Stampone, A media luz and Mariano Mores, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 13 connections around Francisco Canaro, reaching back through La cumparsita and forward to Domingo Federico.
