Melanie B is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Cameo. Those roots explain a lot about how Melanie B arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Melanie C, Spice Girls, All Saints, Rachel Stevens and Sugababes, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Melanie C, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Sisqó and Teddy Riley, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 31 connections around Melanie B, reaching back through Cameo and forward to Melanie C. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
