Shorty Long

Shorty Long is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Harvey Fuqua. Those roots explain a lot about how Shorty Long arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Eddie Holland, The Contours, The Dells, The Originals and Edwin Starr, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Stevie Wonder, Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 23 connections around Shorty Long, reaching back through Harvey Fuqua and forward to Stevie Wonder. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
