J-pop

STU48 is a J-pop act. Their sound grew out of Nogizaka46, Yasushi Akimoto, AKB48 Group, AKB48 and NGT48. Those roots explain a lot about how STU48 arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as NGT48, AKB48, Sakurazaka46, Momoiro Clover Z and BiSH, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Love, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 12 connections around STU48, reaching back through Nogizaka46 and forward to Love.
