Toyah Willcox is a Synth-pop act. Their sound grew out of Chris Rainbow, Spike Edney and Sex Pistols. Those roots explain a lot about how Toyah Willcox arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Alyssa Milano, Eurythmics, Berlin, Toni Basil and Kim Wilde, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Tony Banks, Trey Gunn, Siouxsie Sioux, Adam Ant and Robert Fripp, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 15 connections around Toyah Willcox, reaching back through Chris Rainbow and forward to Tony Banks.
