U Brown is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Dennis Brown, Dennis Alcapone, Prince Jazzbo, I-Roy and Cutty Ranks. Those roots explain a lot about how U Brown arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ranking Joe, Ronnie Davis, Welton Irie, Jah Thomas and Triston Palmer, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Burro Banton, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 26 connections around U Brown, reaching back through Dennis Brown and forward to Burro Banton.
