The Revolutionaries is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Jah Lion, Derrick Harriott and Bongo Herman. Those roots explain a lot about how The Revolutionaries arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as The Aggrovators, King Tubby, Prince Jammy, Keith Hudson and Scientist, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into John Holt, Black Uhuru, Culture, Prince Alla and Leroy Smart, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 43 connections around The Revolutionaries, reaching back through Jah Lion and forward to John Holt.
