Matanza was a Brazilian hardcore punk band from Rio de Janeiro, formed in 1996. Their music is a blend of hardcore punk, country and heavy metal, thus falling into a subgenre known as countrycore.

Mamonas Assassinas was a Brazilian comedy rock band. Known originally as Utopia, their musical style employed a humorous mixture between rock and a wide range of styles, often borrowing elements from other music, among which were the main riff of the Portuguese Vira ("Vira-Vira"), Northeastern Brazilian rhythms like forró, Mexican music, heavy metal, sertanejo, and even pagode. Widely beloved in their native Brazil, the band are widely regarded as one of the most popular bands to come out of the 1990s Brazilian music scene.

Planet Hemp was a Brazilian rap rock band, formed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1993, known for starting the career of rappers Marcelo D2 and B Negão for its lyrics supporting the legality of cannabis. The band's original members was Marcelo D2 (vocals), Skunk (vocals), Rafael Crespo (guitars), Formigão (bass) and Bacalhau (drums). The band broke up in 2001 due to differences between the band members, and Marcelo D2 and B Negão are increasing focus on their solo projects. Since 2012 the band reunited and released the album Jardineiros. in June of 2025, the band announced their disbandment and farewell tour.

Engenheiros do Hawaii was a Brazilian rock band formed in Porto Alegre in 1983 that achieved great popularity with their ironic, critically charged songs with heavily semantic lyrics often relying on wordplays. The vocalist and bassist Humberto Gessinger was the only member present since the original lineup.

Legião Urbana was a Brazilian rock band formed in 1982 in Brasília, Distrito Federal. The band primarily consisted of Renato Russo, Dado Villa-Lobos (guitar), Renato Rocha (bass), and Marcelo Bonfá. Rocha left the band in 1989, and the band continued as a trio until their disbandment, with Russo becoming the band's de facto bassist after Rocha's departure. Following Rocha's death in 2015, Villa-Lobos and Bonfá are the last surviving members of the band's principal lineup.

Camisa de Vênus was a Brazilian rock group from Bahia whose peak of popularity was in the mid-1980s. Former lead singer, Marcelo Nova would be the producer and partner of Raul Seixas in his last years. The band has made several comebacks for short tours but is now on tour in promotion of its new record “Dançando na Lua”.

Barão Vermelho is a Brazilian rock band. Formed in 1981 in Rio de Janeiro, it was originally led by songwriting duo Cazuza (singer) and Roberto Frejat (guitarist), who assumed the vocals after Cazuza's departure in 1985. Frejat left the band in 2017 and was replaced by Rodrigo Suricato. They are considered one of the most influential bands in Brazilian rock.

Nenhum de Nós is a Brazilian pop rock band formed in 1986 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The band primarily consists of former Engenheiros do Hawaii member Carlos Stein (guitar), Sady Hömrich (drums), Thedy Corrêa and Veco Marques (guitar). One of the most famous Brazilian pop rock bands, they are well known for the song "Camila, Camila". Another member was João Vicenti (keyboards), who died on March 27, 2024.

RPM was a Brazilian pop rock band. It was formed in 1983 by Paulo Ricardo (vocal/bass), Luiz Schiavon (keyboards), Fernando Deluqui (guitar) and Paulo Pagni (drums).

Forfun was a Brazilian alternative rock band which reached the peak of its popularity in the mid- to late 2000s. Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2001, their initial line-up comprised vocalist/guitarist Danilo Cutrim, bassist Vítor Isensee and drummer Bruno Tizé. By 2002, Tizé left the band and was replaced by Nicholas Christ, while Isensee switched his position with Rodrigo Costa to become second guitarist. Their first shows were frequently attended by the sons of then-Deputy Jair Bolsonaro, Eduardo and Carlos, who were personal friends of the bandmembers; Eduardo would later cameo in the music video for "História de Verão". They released in 2003 the demo album Das Pistas de Skate às Pistas de Dança, which was a significant underground hit, and in 2005 their official debut, Teoria Dinâmica Gastativa, produced by Liminha, came out through Universal Music Group.

Los Hermanos is a rock band from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The group was formed in 1997 by Marcelo Camelo, Rodrigo Amarante, Rodrigo Barba (drums), and Bruno Medina. Currently they are on an extended hiatus, performing some concerts sporadically.

Priscilla Novaes Leone, better known as Pitty, is a Brazilian rock singer.
