16 Horsepower

16 Horsepower is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of The Gun Club, Nick Cave, John Parish, Sinner Man and Joy Division. Those roots explain a lot about how 16 Horsepower arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Woven Hand, Songs: Ohia, Uncle Tupelo, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and Vic Chesnutt, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into DevilDriver, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 20 connections around 16 Horsepower, reaching back through The Gun Club and forward to DevilDriver. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
