Shearwater

Folk
Folk

Shearwater is a Folk act. Their sound grew out of David Bowie, Damien Jurado, Sharon Van Etten, Low and Swimming. Those roots explain a lot about how Shearwater arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Other Lives, Wye Oak, Aldous Harding, Junip and The Boxer Rebellion, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Okkervil River and Talk Talk, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 32 connections around Shearwater, reaching back through David Bowie and forward to Okkervil River. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
