Alexander is a Electronic act. Their sound grew out of Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. Those roots explain a lot about how Alexander arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Timber Timbre, Andrew Bird, Junip and Villagers, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into John Legend, Panic! at the Disco, Cyndi Lauper and Avicii, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 24 connections around Alexander, reaching back through Willie Nelson and forward to John Legend. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
