Blind Pilot is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Gillian Welch. Those roots explain a lot about how Blind Pilot arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Gregory Alan Isakov, The Tallest Man on Earth, The Barr Brothers and Ray LaMontagne, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Vance Joy, Gregory Alan Isakov and Anna Tivel, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 29 connections around Blind Pilot, reaching back through Gillian Welch and forward to Vance Joy. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
