◇ image via WikipediaAloe Blacc
Aloe Blacc is a House and Jazz act. Their catalogue also touches Rhythm and blues. Their sound grew out of Avicii, Gabry Ponte, Tim Berg, Alice Smith and Oh No. Those roots explain a lot about how Aloe Blacc arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as John Legend, CeeLo Green, Gnarls Barkley, Ben l'Oncle Soul and Leon Bridges, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Yussef Dayes, Blu & Exile, Avicii, Owl City and Blu, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 48 connections around Aloe Blacc, reaching back through Avicii and forward to Yussef Dayes.
