Caribou is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Gold Panda, Walls, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Radiohead and Les Savy Fav. Those roots explain a lot about how Caribou arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Daphni, Four Tet, Tourist, Darkside and Hot Chip, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Sinkane and Toro y Moi, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 39 connections around Caribou, reaching back through Gold Panda and forward to Sinkane. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
