The Knife
The Knife is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Mylo, Allie X, Trentemøller and Jay-Jay Johanson. Those roots explain a lot about how The Knife arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Fever Ray, Austra, iamamiwhoami, Ladytron and Robyn, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into SRSQ, José González, Fever Ray, Alison Wonderland and Trespassers William, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 33 connections around The Knife, reaching back through Siouxsie and the Banshees and forward to SRSQ. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
