Chief is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Tom Petty, Nacho Picasso, Band of Horses, Coldplay and Local Natives. Those roots explain a lot about how Chief arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Hundredth, A Wilhelm Scream, Rise Against, Lovedrug and Belvedere, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Club Dogo, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 23 connections around Chief, reaching back through Tom Petty and forward to Club Dogo.
