Corona

Corona is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Ice MC. Those roots explain a lot about how Corona arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Culture Beat, Dr. Alban, Real McCoy, Cappella and Ice MC, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life), Sunblock, Eva Simons, Bastille and Cascada, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 25 connections around Corona, reaching back through Ice MC and forward to Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life). Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.

Background

Corona is an Italian Eurodance project. Initially a group formed by the Brazilian singer and model Olga Maria de Souza and producer Francesco "Checco" Bontempi, they found commercial success with the worldwide hits "The Rhythm of the Night" (1993) and "Baby Baby" (1995). After their second album, Bontempi left the group and was replaced by Francesco Conte and Paolo Dughero.
