Dance Gavin Dance is a Emo and Progressive rock act. Their sound grew out of Drop Dead, Gorgeous, A Skylit Drive, The Almost, Don Broco and Chino Moreno. Those roots explain a lot about how Dance Gavin Dance arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Emarosa, Circa Survive, Isles & Glaciers, The Fall of Troy and Ghost Runner On Third, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Ice Nine Kills, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 21 connections around Dance Gavin Dance, reaching back through Drop Dead, Gorgeous and forward to Ice Nine Kills.
