Dev is a Hip hop act. Their sound grew out of Bobby Brackins, Amy Winehouse, Eminem, Peaches and Yelle. Those roots explain a lot about how Dev arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Heidi Montag, Nicole Scherzinger, Natalia Kills, Ke$ha and Ashley Tisdale, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Demi Lovato, Far East Movement, New Boyz, JLS and Bell Biv DeVoe, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 58 connections around Dev, reaching back through Bobby Brackins and forward to Demi Lovato. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
