Dorothy is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of AC/DC, Black Sabbath, The Kills, The White Stripes and Patti Smith. Those roots explain a lot about how Dorothy arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Halestorm, Pop Evil, Black Stone Cherry, Ayron Jones and Elle King, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Dolly Parton, Slash, Godsmack and Halestorm, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 39 connections around Dorothy, reaching back through AC/DC and forward to Dolly Parton. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
