Epik High is a Hip hop act. Their sound grew out of Dilated Peoples, Verbal Jint, Jisoo, Yang Hyun-suk and Drunken Tiger. Those roots explain a lot about how Epik High arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Zico, CODE KUNST, Tablo, Beenzino and DPR LIVE, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Younha, RM, Blackpink, Beenzino and Dok2, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 31 connections around Epik High, reaching back through Dilated Peoples and forward to Younha.
