Esthero is a Trip hop act. Their sound grew out of Rascalz, Björk, Portishead, Billie Holiday and Sade. Those roots explain a lot about how Esthero arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Tricky, DJ Vadim, Portishead, Moloko and Sneaker Pimps, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Res, Fergie and Nelly Furtado, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 14 connections around Esthero, reaching back through Rascalz and forward to Res.
