Future of the Left is a Emo act. Their sound grew out of Les Savy Fav, Mclusky, Oceansize, Against Me! and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists. Those roots explain a lot about how Future of the Left arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as METZ, Pissed Jeans, Rocket from the Crypt, The Thermals and Titus Andronicus, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into AJJ, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 20 connections around Future of the Left, reaching back through Les Savy Fav and forward to AJJ.
