Kishore Kumar

Kishore Kumar is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of S. Janaki, S. D. Burman, O.P. Nayyar, Danny Kaye and Jimmie Rodgers. Those roots explain a lot about how Kishore Kumar arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Talat Mahmood and Manna Dey, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Sadhana Sargam, Anuradha Paudwal, Amit Kumar, R.D. Burman and Rahul Dev Burman, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 50 connections around Kishore Kumar, reaching back through S. Janaki and forward to Sadhana Sargam. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
