Larry Heard is a Deep house act. Their sound grew out of Robert Owens, The Supermen Lovers and Shinichiro Yokota. Those roots explain a lot about how Larry Heard arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ron Trent, Glenn Underground, Roy Davis Jr., Kerri Chandler and Moodymann, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Galaxy 2 Galaxy, Ron Hardy, Adonis and Baby Ford, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 23 connections around Larry Heard, reaching back through Robert Owens and forward to Galaxy 2 Galaxy.
