Nils Frahm is a Ambient and Electronic act. Their sound grew out of Rival Consoles and Sebastian Plano. Those roots explain a lot about how Nils Frahm arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Ólafur Arnalds, Ben Lukas Boysen, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Peter Broderick and Max Richter, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Rival Consoles, DJ Shadow, Woodkid, Flora Cash and Mogwai, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation.
