Patty Smyth
Patty Smyth is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Tom Waits and Nick Gilder. Those roots explain a lot about how Patty Smyth arrange songs and choose their tones. Geils Band, Michael Learns to Rock, Quarterflash, Amy Grant and Air Supply, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Don Henley, James Ingram, The Hooters, Rod Stewart and Electric Six, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 24 connections around Patty Smyth, reaching back through Tom Waits and forward to Don Henley. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
