Tiffany is an act on the Starverb influence map. Their sound grew out of Debbie Gibson, Sylvia, Stacey Q, Tommy James & The Shondells and Lauren Wood. Those roots explain a lot about how Tiffany arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Belinda Carlisle, Exposé, Paula Abdul, Stacey Q and Irene Cara, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into 1,000 Hours, Zhang Li Yin, Robin Beck, Moment of Glory and Britney Spears, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 40 connections around Tiffany, reaching back through Debbie Gibson and forward to 1,000 Hours. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
Background
Tiffany is a primarily English feminine form of the Greek given name Theophania. It was formerly often given to children born on the feast of Theophania, that is, Epiphany. The equivalent Greek male name is Theophanes (Θεοφάνης), commonly shortened to Phanis (Φάνης) and the female is Theophania (Θεοφανία) or Theophano (Θεοφανώ), colloquially Phani (Φανή).
