Poison Idea is a Hardcore punk act. Their sound grew out of Wipers, Kill Your Idols, The Gits, Black Flag and Discharge. Those roots explain a lot about how Poison Idea arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Gang Green, Circle Jerks, Void, D.I. and Reagan Youth, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Venomous Concept, Wolfbrigade, Roger Miret, Turbonegro and Kill Your Idols, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 21 connections around Poison Idea, reaching back through Wipers and forward to Venomous Concept.
