Heavy metal

Metallica is a Heavy metal act. Their sound grew out of downset., Slayer, Sevendust, Lacuna Coil and Gang Green. Those roots explain a lot about how Metallica arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Pantera, Testament, Exodus, Ozzy Osbourne and Overkill, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Michael Paget, Lostprophets, Sum 41, Finger Eleven and Nickelback, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 340 connections around Metallica, reaching back through downset. and forward to Michael Paget. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
