Slapshot is a Hardcore punk act. Their sound grew out of SSD, Negative FX, Bad Brains, Gang Green and Circle Jerks. Those roots explain a lot about how Slapshot arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Warzone, Integrity, Strife, Earth Crisis and Bane, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into All, American Nightmare, 108, 7 Seconds and Unearth, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 27 connections around Slapshot, reaching back through SSD and forward to All. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
