Punch Brothers

Country
Country

Punch Brothers is a Country act. Their sound grew out of Gillian Welch, The Milk Carton Kids, Jesse Fuller and Tony Rice. Those roots explain a lot about how Punch Brothers arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Nickel Creek, The Milk Carton Kids, I'm With Her, Sam Bush and Crooked Still, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Sarah Jarosz and Goodnight, Texas, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 22 connections around Punch Brothers, reaching back through Gillian Welch and forward to Sarah Jarosz. Follow any of those threads to keep travelling the influence between bands and genres on Starverb.
