Rui Veloso is a Blues act. Their sound grew out of Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan and B.B. King. Those roots explain a lot about how Rui Veloso arrange songs and choose their tones. They run in the same orbit as Xutos & Pontapés, Os Azeitonas, Da Weasel, UHF and Doce, sharing audiences, venues and reference points rather than a straight line of influence. Their influence carried into Luz Casal, Os Azeitonas and Salvador Sobral, where the same ideas turn up rearranged for a later generation. Altogether the chart holds 14 connections around Rui Veloso, reaching back through Eric Clapton and forward to Luz Casal.
